Studio JCI

Building web skylines for a studio that builds the skyline of Toronto.

Studio JCI is an architecture studio that builds the skyline of Toronto. They work across scales, from towers to low-rises. Their existing website presented the portfolio correctly but was not showing what the studio is about. Apart from doing expansive work with the urban areas, they also speak and write thought leadership pieces.

We studied their portfolio and saw the obvious move: build the concept around the height of their buildings. Row by row, we let the high-rise’s pictures be physically taller, and low-rises be lower and more horizontal. On the homepage this layout also incorporates frames from the studio life and leadership: awards, publications, and speaking events. Some tiles are animated to inject even more life into it: a bird flying by a high-rise, a tram moving in a neighbourhood they built

“Denys is the designer and collaborator we needed for our website project. He helped us achieve our abstract vision and gave it shape and intention. We are so grateful for all his guidance and to have worked with him!”
